Nutmeg Speed Die Innovation

A young Monopoly player from the Nutmeg State (Connecticut) developed a totally beastly innovation on the Speed Die. First game-tested in early 2011, the Nutmeg die contains the standard Speed Die combination of three numbers, one Mr. Monopoly, and one Bus, but with the second Mr. Monopoly side replaced by the "Auction Domain" option, signified by the star in the photo to the right.

When a player rolls the "Auction Domain" on the Speed Die, and there are properties left for sale owned by the bank, the player can select one of those properties and put it up for auction. The other players then bid, auction style, on the property. When the bidding is over, the original player then has "topper rights" to purchase the property at $1 more than the highest bid.

When a player rolls the "Auction Domain" on the Speed Die, and there are NO more properties owned by the bank, then the player can select one property owned by another player and have it seized for repossession by the bank, using Eminent Domain (for free). Monopolies with houses are exempt. To play with a twist, players can seize houses, as well as opponent properties, if they roll the "Auction Domain" on the Speed Die. In this case, owners of the houses will be compensated by the Bank for full market value of the seized houses.
